Description
Pili or Twisted beardgrass Poaceae (Gramineae) Possibly indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands Oʻahu (Cultivated)  Not difficult to understand why it is called Twisted beardgrass or Tangledhead.  Pili was used for thatching roofs by early Hawaiians who also enjoyed the fresh scent of this grass.  NPH00009 nativeplants.hawaii.edu/plant/view/Heteropogon_contortus
